If your kid has ever wandered into the house with a bag of fast food and a mega-sized slushy, you may not be surprised to hear this: Teenagers officially have the lowest diet quality of any age group. Teen girls are at risk for not getting enough protein. Teen boys fall short on a few nutrients too. As you know, I try to teach my kids balance. I don't forbid certain foods. And I don't warn my kids about "toxic" ingredients or "dangerous chemicals" in foods. Not a fan of fear-mongering. But I also want my kids to get what they need. As anyone knows who has bought three different sizes of sneakers in one year... Or watched your child transform from a little kid to a full-blown teenager within a few months... Teens experience a ton of growth and change. And that all requires good fuel. Way more than a slushy can provide. Brand new on Real Mom Nutrition this week: 10 foods that are especially awesome for teens. Because they contain the nutrients that teenagers need more of. For each one, I give lots of recipe and serving ideas. And needless to say, these foods are great for ALL kids! Tap the button below to see the full list and get all the serving ideas and recipes.

I need to do this more often. Is Penelope Settling? Jennifer Weiner, as usual, makes a pretty good case here. (Be warned: Bridgerton Season 3 spoiler included.)
