Hi reader!
Ever notice how every time you search for healthy recipes, all the low-carb and keto options take over your Pinterest feed and Google results?
But what if you love carbs? Like, you're not ready to give up pizza and pasta just yet?
Same, my friend. ðð
If I had to choose only one food to eat forever, it would definitely be pizza and pasta—no question!
The good news? You don't have to give up all carbs to reach your goals. I actually lost 30 pounds while still enjoying pasta and pizza regularly!
➡️ These days, in my late 40s, I've found that eating lowish-carb makes me feel better, keeps my energy steady, and helps me maintain a healthier weight. But that doesn't mean I cut out carbs completely—I just eat them in a more balanced way.
Here's how I make lowish-carb work for me:
✅ I don't cut out fruits & veggies. I have a smoothie every day, which helps so much with my hormonal balance. To keep my sugar intake in check, I use lower-sugar fruits like berries and enjoy higher-sugar fruits in moderation. I also add protein and healthy fats.
✅ Portion control is key. If I want pasta, I measure out a portion and make sure it fits into my daily intake—no need to ban it completely!
✅ The 75/25 formula. I fill my plate with 75% protein and/or veggies and 25% pasta (or my carb of choice). This lets me enjoy my favorites without overdoing it.
✅ Mix it up. I try to have 3-4 low-carb dinners a week, then balance them out with meals that include healthy carbs.
✅ Eat carbs earlier in the day. I've found that having carbs for breakfast or lunch gives my body more time to burn them, so I don't feel sluggish later.
✅ Easy swaps for pizza crust. Sometimes, I use pita bread, naan, or even a portobello mushroom as a crust—still delicious but with fewer carbs.

Hope this helps you find that perfect balance between indulging in your favorites and feeling great!
