Panxi is one of those famous "must-go" "old businesses" in Guangzhou but to be frank the recent experience hadn't been that great. My parents, as locals who frequented Panxi decades ago, complained non-stop about the quality of food (lack thereof, really) and mediocre service. The only passable dim sum was the taro dumplings that I wanted. They weren't exceptional or anything, but at least decent. No more Panxi for us...
