Happening in Montreal, Canada, the conference provides a unique opportunity for WHO to promote its policies, guidelines and tools and to demonstrate its contribution to the health sector response to HIV and related areas of health. Monday, 1 August WHO HQ closed Please note WHO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, will be closed next Monday, 1 August, for a holiday observance. This may delay our response to media queries. WHO HQ will reopen Tuesday, 2 August. 1-6 August WHO will be taking part at the 7th World Congress on Leishmaniasis (WorldLeish7) - a scientific meeting on leishmaniasis happening next week, 1-6 August in Cartagena, Colombia. WorldLeish7 will highlight the advances and new research findings in this area. More than 1500 researchers, professionals and students will come together to identify and generate new ideas, promote a multidisciplinary approach to research and strengthen collaboration among technological development groups and research centers around the world. The WHO Road Map on NTDs 2021-2030 includes visceral leishmaniasis among the diseases targeted for elimination as a public health problem and cutaneous leishmaniasis among those targeted for control. WHO recently published a set of guidelines dedicated to new treatment recommendations for visceral leishmaniasis in patients who are coinfected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
