The primary focus of this release is modern design features applied across data.census.gov. This includes a refreshed landing page featuring new speech-to-text functionality, interactive sample search text, and enhanced descriptions of the site content. You will also notice redesigned profile pages. With the new layout, we provide key statistics and charts on the left, and an interactive map on the right side of the profile pages. These profile updates also provide new source statements and table views.

Another major update is improved indicators to help you navigate the site and make sense of your selections. You will see more precise wording for the button that allows you to clear your search and filters. Dot style indicators show the number of filters you selected and the number of results provided. Skeleton loading provides an indication of the content layout the site is attempting to load on screen, instead of showing you a spinning circle.

Based on popular demand, we are excited to announce that we have added new and improved search bars to the top of each filter panel. These search bars allow you to search the content of a single filter panel as an alternative to scrolling through long lists. With this re-release, you will notice that these search bars are now available in all filter panels instead of only the geography panels. We also added text to help clarify what you can search for within each search bar.

We applied several mapping improvements with this release as well. This includes a new feature that allows you to specify manual breaks for your legend, either by editing text boxes or using an interactive histogram. You will also find a new panel on the right side of the screen to interact with mapping functionality for the boundaries, classes, table, and notes buttons. This makes it easier to use the functionality without covering up your map.

And finally, we completed technical updates to enable profile views for specific tables. The vision for this work is to provide more dynamic and visual ways to view data in upcoming 2020 Census data releases.
