Shopping Advice From the Epicurious Test Kitchen Freedom of Choice Is Exhausting, That's Why I Have a Kitchen Radio Nowadays music and television streaming services offer complete free rein over the media we choose to consume. You want to watch SVU for 30 hours straight? Go ahead. How about an auto-generated playlist that compiles the music you listen to all the time, so you can listen to it even more? Frankly, I find this wealth of options quite exhausting, especially when it comes time to listen to some music while cooking. This is why I have re-embraced the simple pleasure of FM radio, and why you might want to too.
If you don't relate to this fatigue, good for you. I'll hand you the aux cord next time we can gather. If you do, though, I suggest giving up this streaming utopia every once in a while. Get a kitchen radio to keep you company while you cook. Trust me, you will feel far better if you extract yourself from the phone completely and let the antenna do the work.
