State Farm Stadium site vaccinates 100,000 against COVID-19 in less than three weeks Second state-run site opens Monday at ASU's Phoenix Municipal Stadium PHOENIX ‒ Less than three weeks after opening, the state's first 24/7 COVID-19 vaccination site at State Farm Stadium has administered its 100,000th dose. That means one out of six doses put into arms since vaccine began arriving in Arizona in December has been given at the State Farm Stadium site, which launched on Jan. 11. As of today, a total of 629,845 doses have been administered across the state. "We're proud to have reached this milestone so quickly, but there is much more work to be done," said Dr. Cara Christ, director of the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS). "Our only limitation is the amount of vaccine we have been allocated. As we get more doses into Arizona, we can replicate this nationally recognized model in even more places around the state." To date, State Farm Stadium has administered 102,669 doses. On Monday, the State Farm Stadium site will begin administering second doses to those vaccinated there in January while also administering as many first doses as before. Once at full capacity, State Farm Stadium will administer 10,000-12,000 doses per day. The State Farm Stadium vaccination site is operated by ADHS and partners including the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs, Arizona Cardinals, Arizona State University (ASU), Walgreens, Blue CrossⓇ Blue ShieldⓇ of Arizona, the Ben and Catherine Ivy Foundation, American Medical Response (AMR), and the Arizona Department of Public Safety. On Monday, a second state-run vaccination site opens at ASU's Phoenix Municipal Stadium. The site has the same capacity as the State Farm Stadium operation but for now has its capacity limited to around 500 doses a day because of the limited vaccine supply. The state-run sites add capacity and have been built off the best practices of the existing vaccination sites run by Dignity Health, HonorHealth, Abrazo, Banner Health, and Tucson Medical Center around the state. State Farm Stadium is currently the only 24/7 site in the state, with additional sites to provide 24/7 capacity being planned. All appointments at the two state-run sites are booked through February, though appointments have been reserved for those vaccinated at a state-run site to receive second doses. Groups prioritized to date include: frontline healthcare workers, emergency services workers, and residents and staff at long-term care facilities (in Phase 1A); and protective services workers; K-12, university, and community college educators; childcare workers; and adults 65 and older (prioritized Phase 1B). Each county's current vaccine phase is listed on the ADHS website, which is updated daily. As Arizona receives more vaccine doses and adds more appointments, those in groups prioritized for vaccination can register for appointments at State Farm Stadium, Phoenix Municipal Stadium, and multiple other vaccination sites at podvaccine.azdhs.gov. Information about all vaccination sites across Arizona can be found at azhealth.gov/findvaccine. Those without computer access or needing extra help registering can call 1-844-542-8201 to be connected with someone who can assist. Note: You can use the patient portal at podvaccine.azdhs.gov to make an appointment for a relative in a prioritized group.
