The Environment Agency is asking for your views on its preliminary conclusions following its detailed assessment of the environmental aspects of the UK HPR1000 new nuclear power station design. The consultation does not relate to a specific site, even though the UK HPR1000 is proposed for a specific site in the UK. It is not about the need for nuclear power, the siting of nuclear power stations, or the safety and security of the design. The Environment Agency has published eight assessment reports and an independent dose assessment, alongside the consultation document and summary document. All comments and matters raised will be carefully considered and can help inform the Agency's assessments. The Environment Agency aims to publish its final conclusions in a 'decision document' in early 2022. The 12-week consultation begins on 11 January 2021 and will close on 4 April 2021. You can find details of the consultation questions, detailed assessment topics and Assessment Findings, in the full consultation document and assessment reports on GOV.UK and the Environment Agency's online consultation hub.
