This week, we’re using the slow cooker to make summer meals easier, and today’s recipe is one you need to try.
Not to sound overdramatic, but this is literally the best pulled pork recipe you will ever eat.
The pork is coated in a sweet and spicy homemade seasoning blend, cooked low and slow with orange juice, and turns out incredibly juicy, tender, and flavorful.
Prep it the night before, start it in the morning, and let it cook all day. By dinnertime, the pork falls apart with barely any effort.
One of my favorite things about this recipe is how easy it is to prepare ahead.
The night before, trim any excess fat from the pork and massage the seasoning blend all over it. Refrigerating it overnight gives those seasonings time to flavor the meat.
In the morning, add the orange juice and pork to your slow cooker. Cook it on low for 8–10 hours, then shred it once it’s fall-apart tender.
Add some of the cooking liquid back to the shredded pork to keep it juicy, then taste and add a little extra salt to bring out all those flavors.
This pulled pork makes approximately 16 servings, so it’s a great choice when you need to feed a crowd.
Make it for:
Graduation parties
Birthday parties
Fourth of July celebrations
Summer cookouts
Game-day parties
Casual family gatherings
Set out rolls, barbecue sauce, coleslaw, pickles, cheese, and other toppings so everyone can build their own sandwich.
The slow cooker can also keep the pork warm throughout the party, which means you don’t have to worry about making dinner while your guests are there.

Hamilton Beach 6-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker
This is the slow cooker I use every week. It’s the perfect size for a large pork roast, and the programmable settings make it easy to let the pork cook while I’m working or away from home.
