Hamburger Steak Skillet Casserole consists of a hearty ground beef mixture in a thick gravy with diced tomatoes covered with a layer of white cheddar mashed potatoes. It tastes like a southern hamburger steak or salisbury steak except in casserole form. It's like a southern version of Shepherd's Pie and it is so good.
It's a very filling meal and I love to serve it with Cracker Barrel Baby Limas, Green Beans with Bacon Breadcrumbs, Buttery Peas with Mushrooms, or Southern-Style Green Beans and some Yeast Rolls.

"Fixed this for my staff for our friday pot luck, they liked it SO MUCH they requested it again for the very next week!!! It's wonderful just the way it is!!!!! But, for the second time, we tried it without the mashed potatoes and poured it over crispy French fries, just to make it a tad bit different since it was 2 weeks in a row!
