It's summertime here, and the heat is on! But don't sweat it (literally), I've got you covered with some cool and refreshing foods to help beat the summer heat. Here are some of our favourite summer foods (and recipes) that will help keep your body cool and refreshed: - Watermelon: This summer staple is not only tasty but also a great source of hydration. Packed with vitamins A and C, it's a healthy and refreshing choice for hot summer days. Try my Watermelon Salad for a healthy dose of vitamins!
- Cucumbers: These crunchy and refreshing veggies are over 90% water, making them a great choice for staying hydrated. Plus, they're low in calories and high in nutrients, so you can snack on them all day long. I have a chilled cucumber soup recipe on the blog that's perfect for this season!
- Pineapple: This tropical fruit is not only delicious but also contains an enzyme called bromelain, which helps reduce inflammation and aids digestion. Adding pineapple to your lunch and dinner meals, and not just salads is a great way to sneak in vitamin C and manganese! My Thai Pineapple Fried Rice is a great addition to any summer meal.
- Mint: Mint is a refreshing herb that's perfect for summer drinks and dishes. It's known for its cooling properties, making it an excellent choice for hot summer days.Try my Mint Chaas (buttermilk) recipe for a quick and refreshing beverage!
- Iced Tea: There's nothing quite like a tall glass of iced tea on a hot summer day. It's refreshing, and hydrating, and can be made in a variety of flavours to suit your taste buds. But have you ever tried an Apple Iced Tea, I promise you, it's a game changer!!
So there you have it, folks! Stay cool, stay hydrated!
