Hi reader,
How are you? Today, I want to share five of my favorite meal prep hacks that have saved me time, money, and sanity over the years.
Some of these might be familiar, but I also know that when I first started meal prepping, I had no clue about these tricks. So whether you're new to meal prep or have been at it for a while, I hope you find these helpful!
These hacks will help you:
✔️ Make it easier to eat healthier and lose weight
✔️ Reduce food waste
✔️ Save money
Let's dive in!
1️⃣ You Can Freeze Kale & Other Greens
Wait, what? Yes! This trick changed the game for me when I started making green smoothies regularly.
There are three easy ways to freeze kale, spinach, or any leafy greens—no more throwing out leftovers!
✔️ Add them to a smoothie freezer kit.
✔️ Store leftovers in a bag and freeze.
✔️ Use frozen greens in soups, smoothies, or cooked dishes.
So go ahead—buy that bulk bag of spinach or kale and freeze the extra!

2️⃣ You Can Freeze Cooked Rice & Quinoa
This is a huge time-saver! Cooking rice or quinoa can take 20-30 minutes, which feels like an eternity when everyone is hungry.
Instead, cook your grains ahead of time and freeze them in 1-2 cup portions for easy meals.
✔️ Saves cooking time on busy nights
✔️ Reduces food waste
✔️ Perfect for quick stir-fries, bowls, or side dishes

3️⃣ Prep Slow Cooker Ingredients the Night Before
If you love slow cooker meals but don't have time in the morning to prep, this hack is for you.
✔️ Assemble all ingredients the night before and store the slow cooker insert in the fridge.
✔️ In the morning, place it in the crock, turn it on, and go about your day.
✔️ You can even prep slow cooker ingredients on the weekend for a stress-free week.
Slow cookers are meal prep lifesavers—you can make shredded chicken, taco meat, oatmeal, and so much more.

4️⃣ Prep Ingredients Without Cooking Anything
Yes, meal prep doesn't have to mean cooking everything in advance! Simply prepping ingredients can make a huge impact on your week.
✔️ Trim and slice chicken
✔️ Wash and cut fruits & vegetables
✔️ Portion out snacks for easy grab-and-go options
Start with the meals that would make the biggest difference in your week, and go from there. Meal prep should make life easier—so keep it simple!
5️⃣ Make Meal Starters
One of the best meal prep hacks is making versatile meal starters that can be used in different recipes throughout the week.
✔️ Shredded chicken or beef – Perfect for tacos, wraps, salads, sandwiches, and casseroles.
✔️ Homemade sauces – Make a batch of salsa, pesto, stir-fry sauce, or marinara to instantly add flavor to meals.
✔️ Seasoned ground beef or turkey – Great for tacos, pasta, grain bowls, or stuffed peppers.
Having these meal starters prepped means you can throw together a meal in minutes without starting from scratch.
These are just a few hacks that have helped me over the years. If one doesn't work for your routine, try another until you find what fits.
