Classes at Rice University were canceled Tuesday after a student, Andrea Rodriguez Avila, was found dead in her dorm in what police suspect was a murder-suicide.

Avila, a junior from Maryland, was discovered Monday after her parents requested a welfare check when they couldn't reach her.

Campus police found her body alongside that of a man identified as her boyfriend, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Avila’s boyfriend was not enrolled at the university and is believed to be from Florida. Police say he could not have entered the dorm unless someone let him in.

A federal judge in Tyler temporarily halted a Biden administration policy that would allow illegal immigrants married to U.S. citizens to gain legal status without leaving the country.

The 14-day stay was issued after 16 states, led by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, challenged the “parole in place” policy, arguing it bypasses Congress for “blatant political purposes.”

The Keeping Families Together program was announced in June and began accepting applications last week. The White House estimated it would benefit around 500,000 families.

Former Trump adviser Stephen Miller called the ruling a “huge victory,” while President Biden condemned it, saying that “families should not be needlessly separated.”

In Parker County, a herd of 1,200 goats is working hard, not just for snacks but to clear land and help prevent wildfires.

Parker County Goat Rental offers these eco-friendly workers to tackle invasive species like poison ivy without the noise of machinery.

Owner Nathan Alford jokes that his goats are the best employees he's ever had—they never call in sick and work holidays without complaint. Watch a video here.

Currently, the goats are rented out on 12 different job sites, where they munch away under the protection of Great Pyrenees dogs.
