NASA awarded Intuitive Machines of Houston a $116.9 million contract to deliver six payloads to the moon’s south pole in 2027.

The lunar south pole is notorious for rugged terrain and frigid temperatures and its water-richness is especially of interest to scientists.

Intuitive Machines made headlines in February as the first commercial company to softly land on the moon. They are now in the final assembly phase of their second lunar mission, with plans to deliver the lander to the launch facility later this year.

Amanda Murphy of Bryan, TX, was nearly tricked into wiring $3,000 to a scammer who used artificial intelligence to impersonate her daughter, suggesting she had been kidnapped.

Murphy went to a Walmart to wire the funds as ransom, where an associate was able to get her daughter on the phone and expose the scam.

The FBI warns this type of ploy is becoming more common as AI sophistication grows.
