Here's today's Tip/Kitchen Hack: Happy Wednesday! π It's time for another tip for my My Food Story fam, today we're diving into a very important topic. As a food lover and someone who appreciates delicious and safe meals, it's crucial to know when your chicken is no longer good to eat. Spoiled chicken not only affects its taste and texture but can also lead to potential health risks.
Here are the key points to look out for:
π Appearance and Color: Fresh raw chicken should have a light pink color with white fatty pieces. Watch out for gray, green, or yellow fat, as these are signs of spoilage. π Smell: Fresh chicken should have a mild or no smell at all. A strong sour or sulfur-like odor indicates that it's gone bad. π Texture: Fresh raw chicken should feel glossy and somewhat soft. If it's slimy, sticky, or overly soft, it's best to discard it. π️ Purchase and Expiration Date: Always check the expiration date before buying chicken. Be sure to use it before the "use by" date for peak quality. Store raw chicken in the fridge or freezer within 2 hours of purchase to prevent spoilage. Remember, if you notice any signs of spoilage or have doubts about the chicken's freshness, don't take chances—discard it to stay safe!
