No One Wants a Smelly Kitchen |
It seems like a basic container, but a kitchen trash can needs to do three things very well: Completely contain all the garbage you generate on a regular basis, keep your kitchen from smelling like all the garbage you generate on a regular basis, and look as stylish as possible while doing it. My colleague Wilder Davies went trash can hunting and turned up some promising candidates. One thing that came out of all that trash can testing is that, yes, more expensive trash cans are actually better trash cans. They're made out of tougher material that is better at keeping odors at bay; this is just something to consider if you find yourself scoffing at those fancy looking trash cans at the Container Store. There are a couple cheapies that work OK (both are recommended below), but we'd be doing you a disservice if we told you they were the answer to all your garbage problems. See the cans that were real standouts down below and click on through to find out how Wilder figured that out and which trash cans to avoid. —Noah Kaufman |
