Now Hiring: Agricultural Economist Join the passionate team that enforces the USDA National Organic Standards The USDA National Organic Program (NOP) oversees the dynamic, growing organic industry. This small federal program that develops and enforces the organic standards to continually strengthen trust in the USDA organic seal has a big impact on farmers, businesses and consumers. We are recruiting uniquely qualified professionals with expertise in agricultural economics, strong quantitative skills and agricultural knowledge to join our Standards Division and serve as a Senior Agricultural Economist. The selected candidate will lead the economic analysis aspects of regulatory projects impacting organic production and handling, and apply this specialized expertise to: - Describe the economic impact of NOP regulatory decisions.
- Build cost-benefit models to support rule development and alternative analyses.
- Develop regulatory impact and flexibility analyses.
- Conduct analyses based on organic market information and industry-recognized economic concepts.
- Develop program policies, procedures, and regulations, with a specialized focus on economic analysis.
