| Hello friends, and welcome to my "What I've been loving" series! The truth is, I started The Almond Eater over 10 years ago, and since then, blogging has changed a lot. I miss writing, and I miss sharing my life with you all. I'm planning to share these emails once a month, so you'll get a glimpse into my life and a few items I've purchased and enjoyed. If you don't care about my life (no offense taken), just don't open the email. You'll still get plenty of tasty food recipes sent to you! LIFE THIS MONTH - It snowed! Kind of a lot. I'm personally not a big fan of snow (though it does look nice), but I don't mind a few snowy days in December.
- Probably the highlight of the month was our week-long trip to El Salvador with Miguel's parents and siblings. I know you might be thinking that's so random, but Miguel's family is from El Salvador and he still has plenty of relatives that live there. We went to visit them and also explored other parts of the country and it was BEAUTIFUL and the food was delicious and we both agreed we'll definitely be back. It was also a welcome retreat from the snow back in Pittsburgh.
- Holidays with kids is just so special. I've always loved Christmastime, but seeing Emmy light up every time we turned the tree on, and also (kinda, sorta) getting into Santa this year was a treat.
- ...we also celebrated Emmy's 2nd birthday the day after Christmas. That's not her actual birthday, but it's close enough and we had family in town so it just made sense. She's deep in a Mickey + Minnie phase, so that was the theme.
- Did anyone else watch the Stranger Thing's finale on New Year's Eve?! If so, I'd love to know what you thought!
THINGS I LOVED THIS MONTH - Kid-friendly headphones: If you have kids between the age of I'd say 1-4 years old, these headphones are great. They're volume-controlled, so they literally cannot get loud even if the volume is up all the way.
- Carry-on luggage: I'm officially a "carry-on only" kinda gal, and this luggage has gone to several countries with me and has held up quite well. It's the perfect size to still be able to fit everything and be within the limitations of carry-on luggage size.
- Bombas slippers: So soft, so cozy -- need I say more?! I actually bought myself these slippers last year, and this year Miguel bought himself a pair too. Coziness all around!
- PaleoValley Vitamin C: I'd previously been taking a multivitamin, but I'm all about immune health and trying not to get sick, so I'm hoping adding this in helps.
- Garmin watch: This is a Miguel item, but needless to say he's obsessed. It has strong battery life and provides offers a ton of great data and training stats. Basically if you're a runner, this is THE watch to get.
That's it! Thanks for the support and Happy New Year! -Erin |
