| First stop on my mission to find the best noodles in Sheffield was Lanzhou on West Street. WOW – we both chose the Spicy Braised Beef Brisket with no broth and we both loved it!
A massive portion, so many noodles (the weight of that bowl!), lots of flavour, spicy as promised, the beef was tender. We couldn't fault the noddle dish at all.
Though the restaurant itself needs a good lick of paint and is definitely no frills, it's obvious that the quality is in the flavour and food served. There was a constant steady flow of people coming in and bowls coming out of the kitchen.
Notes if you're visiting – it's pay by cash and walk-in only, but we managed to squeeze onto a table so all good! No alcohol is served here, but I believe you can take your own or there is a small selection of soft drink available. The menu was a little vague for us (though the staff seemed very friendly so we probably could have just asked them to explain some of the meals to us) so we just chose this particular dish as it was the only one that sounded like the sort of flavours we fancied at the time, and it was spot on.
A great noodle dish to start this year's mini series!!
