Mezwaani, Sheffield

One of the newest Indian Restro-bars to hit Eccelsall Road, Sheffield. Glamour meets flavour here at this beautiful restaurant.

Mezwaani is one of the most recently opened Indian bar & restaurants to hit Sheffield, and what a beautiful and tranquil venue this is. We were kindly invited down to try out some of their fabulous food. We started with poppadoms and sampled a couple of freshly made mocktails – the Raspberry "Nojito" is divine.

The menu is a bit hefty and includes some Indo-Chinese courses too, so you might have to plan ahead. It took us a long time to decide what to have but finally Ben chose the Lamb Seekh kebabs which were delicious and aplenty and I settled on the Pahadi Paneer Tikka and asked for it spicy, and it delivered!! I literally had 3 blocks of cheese and the spice level was great.

Then to the main course and our curries were very flavoursome, though we did ask for them spicy I felt that the kick wasn't as much there as the starters. The Masala cheese garlic naan though – absolutely spot on!

Though we were invited specifically, I did feel the service was a little all over the place at the time. Our waitress wasn't aware of our invite or what was included and there was a language barrier at times. After the initial awkwardness though, things smoothed out and the owner kindly introduced himself and showed us around too. One thing I will say is, we must have been asked if everything was ok and if we wanted to order anything else way too many times. Once or twice is enough, but we were asked about 5 or 6 times and after a while, it felt a little uncomfortable. Just a few tweaks on service, a little more spice to our mains, and the visit would have been perfect.

I have to comment on the style of this restaurant which is just so elegant and welcoming, and I especially loved the private dining section with sliding doors for privacy – perfect for group bookings or an Intimate curry with a loved one!
