It's true about what they say about the internet - you only see the really good, or the really bad.
For most of my life, I have struggled with being overweight. I spent the majority of my 20s on an elliptical machine while drinking Slimfast, attending Weight Watchers, and taking ephedra.
In my 30s, I moved away from processed food and towards real food - that's one of the reasons why I started my blog!
But when the weight wouldn't come off, I realized that "eating clean" wasn't enough. I cut out entire food groups, tried the latest superfoods and supplements, and ventured into intermittent fasting as attempts to lose weight. In the end, I felt resentful, hopeless, and resigned. I thought, "this is just the way it is when you turn 40."
A shift started at the end of 2023 when this realization hit me like a ton of bricks - I've been dieting for nearly my entire life, but clearly nothing worked like I wanted it to. So why did I think that doing those same things again would yield a different result?
I made myself a promise:
- No more dieting mindset.
- No more trying to be my smallest self.
- No more letting the scale dictate how I felt about myself and whether or not I was doing a good job.
I dug into the science of nutrition and weight loss, and by the end of May 2024, I had lost 11 pounds and 12 inches. This is a big deal when you are only 5'1"!
I found success when I stopped looking for short-term fat loss and instead committed to a lifelong goal of being strong and healthy. Through exercise and a macro-nutrition philosophy, I've gone from being overweight to the healthiest version of myself.
I became a Certified Nutrition & Macro Coach and have been working with 1:1 clients who are ABSOLUTELY CRUSHING IT.
