Griff Lynch, CEO of the Georgia Ports Authority, stated that a dockworkers’ strike along the U.S. East and Gulf coasts is likely to begin next week on Oct. 1.

The strike would affect 36 ports and could cause a temporary shutdown. Negotiations between the International Longshoremen’s Association and the United States Maritime Alliance have stalled.

In anticipation of the strike, businesses have been stockpiling goods, increasing container volumes in Savannah by 13.7% in recent months.

Georgia and Alabama will face off this Saturday in a high-stakes SEC matchup at Bryant-Denny Stadium, with both teams entering the game undefeated.

The game is expected to feature a battle between Georgia's strong defense, which has allowed just six points per game, and Alabama's explosive offense led by quarterback Jalen Milroe and running back Jam Miller.

Georgia has relied heavily on its balanced attack, with quarterback Carson Beck completing 68% of his passes.

This game will be the first time Alabama has been a home underdog since 2007.
