Your Ice Cream Scoop Probably Isn't Good Enough |
As someone who has tested all manner of kitchen tools and appliances, good and bad, I'm not sure there is anything more disappointing than discovering you have a lousy ice cream scoop. That's because it's impossible to know this until you are mid-scoop, and there is nothing else you can use to effectively solve the problem of moving ice cream from pint to bowl. You're just left with whatever little chips of ice cream you chisel out of the container. In my humble opinion as a lover of both eating and making ice cream, a good scooper is a greatly underrated kitchen tool, and if you continue to get by with whatever scoop was on sale next to the freezer at the grocery store, you should do yourself a favor and level up. After many, many scoops of ice cream, my colleague Emily Johnson found the most effective scoops that will produce those soda fountain-esque spheres of ice cream we all imagine on a hot day. Check out our top picks below (along with our favorite ice cream maker), and to read more about what scoops didn't make the cut click on through to read her full review. |
