Hello reader I hope you're surviving the current heatwave. Top tip from me is to soak your feet in a bowl of cold water until it warms up. I've found it quite effective and employ the technique often when I'm on the computer. Water is a precious commodity and I don't like to see it going to waste. So the soaking water goes to the garden to quench the thirst of some of our plants. It has to be said, they are all looking a bit desperate at the moment. Talking of waste, I've come up with a tip top refreshing drink that uses the bits of fruit that normally get thrown away. So this week's recipe is pineapple shrub using the peel and core rather than the flesh. It's tart, fruity and thirst quenching. It's also quite good for you. We've been drinking a fair amount over the past few days. It's also easily adaptable, so you can use other fruit instead of pineapple. One of the many good things about this drink is that it's super easy to make and there's no cooking required. All that's needed is a few days for the fruit to macerate. Shrubs are old fashioned drinks, but have become popular again in recent times, mostly as a cocktail ingredient. I just add water (sometimes sparkling and sometimes still) and ice. It's been too hot to do much in the way of updating old posts recently, but here are some of this week's popular posts: Please do let me know if you make any of my recipes and don't forget to star rate them. It really helps to make them more visible on search engines. Questions or feedback via comments on the blog posts are always appreciated.
Keep cooking and stay safe. Choclette x
