Global conflict, authoritarian expansion, and the COVID-19 pandemic have opened new pathways for corruption and dashed efforts to combat illicit activity. Not only does this increased corruption erode faith in democratic institutions, it also heightens other global issues, including environmental degradation and the corrosion of national security and sovereignty.

Recognizing that solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges hinge on meaningful integrity reforms, President Biden identified anti-corruption as one of the three core pillars of the Summit for Democracy Process. To the extent that recent events have highlighted pervasive corruption globally, are there new opportunities for international action and cooperation to combat both homegrown and strategic corruption?

Foreign Policy, in partnership with the National Democratic Institute (NDI), will convene government officials and civil society leaders on Thursday, July 21, for a conversation on #UnitingAgainstCorruption and making meaningful progress toward anti-corruption goals.
