Hi reader, Happy almost August! Earlier in July, I shared an update with several exciting announcements. Behind the scenes, my team and I are finalizing a website refresh/redesign and I'm working hard finishing up a cookbook proposal. It will be a very long process, but hopefully cookbook #4 will be happening in the future. (Stay tuned because I will continue to share cookbook updates when I have them!!) See my 1st three published cookbooks. But first, let's take a look at some of July's highlights. Reader Favorite Recipe from July
This is my family's favorite recipe for homemade zucchini bread. One slice and you'll taste why! See recipe note for turning this batter into zucchini muffins. One reader said: "This bread is delicious! So good that my husband, who has been eating zucchini bread for much of his 69 years, said this is the best zucchini bread he's ever tasted! Thank you, am ready to make again today!!" - Kathy Recipes Published in July I published some new recipes this month! The galette was an older recipe that I knew could use some improvements and fresh new photos. (You can click here to receive email updates whenever a new recipe is published!)
July Baking Challenge UpdateThe July Sally's Baking Challenge recipe is Homemade Berry Turnovers and there are two more days left to participate. See details here. I publish a new challenge recipe every month on the 1st. Participating is completely optional and just something exciting to add to your month! The August Sally's Baking Challenge recipe will be published on Sunday. If you love the monthly challenges, make sure you sign up for Sally's Baking Challenge emails (separate from our regular email list) so you never miss a challenge recipe or announcement. About the Homemade Berry Turnovers, 2 participants said: "I had so much fun making these yummy, flaky, berry-filled turnovers! I enjoyed the process of making a rough puff pastry, and will definitely make it again. I always loved turnovers as a kid, and as an adult would always turn to frozen pastry if I wanted to "home-bake" fruit filled turnovers, but now I have a skill set to make the pastry from scratch….thank you Sally, for your wonderful, detailed instructions, pictures, and video! Another stellar recipe! ★★★★★" - Christy "These turnovers are amazing! I loved learning a new technique, and the end product was worth the effort! This recipe exceeded my expectations. Another hit from Sally! ★★★★★" - Lauren Here's What You've Been BakingMy team and I love seeing my recipes in your kitchen. (Many readers share recipe photos on our Facebook page & in our Facebook group.)
And Here's What I've Been BakingBrown Butter Toffee Chocolate Chip Cookies. Sometimes you just don't mess with classic chocolate chip cookies. But if you're in the mood for an upgrade, I swear by using brown butter and adding toffee-- I just use the Heath Bar Bits O' Brickle that you can find near the chocolate chips in the baking aisle. I made these cookies recently and updated the photos. Instead of waiting for the butter to chill and solidify like the original recipe stated, you can mix the dough up when the butter is still melted/browned. Much easier! New Quick Video TutorialsWhile I always include detailed step-by-step directions and photos for every new recipe published, I know how helpful it is to watch a recipe come together on video. My team has been updating older recipes with short video tutorials and here's several we produced in July:
Spotlight Recipe Review 🎉
"I love baking and trying new recipes, I made this just for fun this weekend, and this cake is DELICIOUS! I made it exactly as the recipe states and served it with some fresh raspberries. If you are looking for a go-to vanilla cake, this is it; nice crumb, excellent vanilla flavor, and the frosting is an easy buttercream that goes perfectly with the cake. ★★★★★" - Leigh Ann Looking Ahead to August
