I owe you an apology.

Hey Reader, I owe you an apology.

I was so excited to send you your free gift download yesterday, that I didn't totally introduce myself or find out more about you!

Can we call this a do-over?

Awesome!

First - if you're anything like me, you’ve read A LOT of blogs over the years. Maybe you were looking for a recipe at the last minute, were curious if you could make your own toothpaste or wondered if the Instant Pot was really worth all the hype.

Anyway, those bloggers look like they always have their act together… they know what’s for dinner DAYS ahead of time, cook entirely from scratch, get it on the table by 5pm every night, and no one at the table complains that it has mushrooms.

And oh yeah, they shop exclusively at Whole Foods and NEVER go over budget...

If you think that’s what my life looks like, brace yourself... It’s not!

I’m a normal mom who shops for “fancy” cheese (in my comfy pants) at ALDI. My kitchen sink ALWAYS has dirty dishes in it, I burned dinner last week (for real) and made chocolate chip cookie bars that tasted so bad, no one in the family would touch them (one more than one occasion).

I’ve also experienced cancer first-hand, watching my step-mom go through multiple rounds of chemotherapy. I watched her hair fall out, fed her when she could no longer hold a spoon, and slept in a chair next to her hospital bed during the last week of her life. My dad wanted to stay until she took her very last breath, and I didn't want him to go through that alone.

We've moved over 4,000 miles across the country (twice) to a place where we didn’t know anyone, and for 10 years said no to a million little things (like coffee at Starbucks or new shoes) so we could say yes to one big thing (we paid cash for a house!).

One thing is for sure though – you and I have a lot in common and we could easily be neighbors. See that lady pulling weeds and taking the trash out? Or the other lady yelling at her kids to stop bouncing the basketball on the house? That's me! But I'd like to open my door and introduce you to my family - wanna come in?

(If you can't see the pictures below, you probably need to allow images in this email. Check the top to see if there’s a “download images” link, or something similar.)

πŸ‘ˆπŸ‘ˆ This is my oldest, Joshua.

He loves LEGOs, basketball and drawing dragons. In fact, the walls of his room are currently covered with torn out pieces of notebook paper with dragons drawn on them. It's an eyesore for those who like clean walls, so I just don't go in his room much. :) If you ask him what he wants for dinner, he’ll ALWAYS tell you steak. Neither "steak" nor "teenager" doesn't exactly work in favor of our grocery budget, so I'm hoping to change his mind in the next couple years.

He's a pretty laid back kid who likes to go with me to run errands (and also apparently, craft fairs). I asked him what he wanted to be when he grows up and he said a "chiller," because he could sit and chill. Yep - that about sums him up. His heart is big and gentle and he’s the only one I trust to put the dishes away in the right spot.

This is my youngest, Abbie. πŸ‘‰πŸ‘‰

She loves bugs (which totally creeps me out), adventure and is our resident comedian. Case in point - I asked her to tell me a joke as I was writing this, and she said, "What did the skeleton say before dinner? Bone-apetit!

She's also very much on the clumsy side and is constantly showing up with fresh bruises and scrapes that she has no idea where they came from. Somehow, this doesn't stop her from exploring and trying new things. Like capturing a frog in the garage and bringing it in the house to show me in the kitchen!!

She ALWAYS picks grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner and is usually the first to volunteer to try something new, other than foods. She's incredibly empathetic, and isn't afraid to ask questions about anything. Which can be good and bad and sometimes awkward, but I'll be okay.

Both kids are voracious readers and I often find them sitting at the kitchen table eating pretzels, noses stuffed in a book.

πŸ‘ˆπŸ‘ˆ This is my husband Mike, a.k.a. Mr. Crumbs.

He's a former pilot turned surfer/biker guy who's now land-locked in Atlanta and surrounded by crazy drivers. He's been in IT for 15 years and isn't quite sure what he wants to be when he grows up... although he makes magnesium lotion in his spare time (check out his shop here!) and he seems to like that.

He’s not afraid to try a random DIY project, which keeps life interesting (to say the least). I'm pretty sure I shed a tear when he told me he was going to drill a hole through my granite counter-top.

He’s a recovering picky eater who puts Frank’s hot sauce on everything and would be perfectly content eating tacos every day for the rest of his life in Costa Rica. Totally.Not.Kidding. (See surfer and biker note above.)

He’s also my biggest supporter, the sounding board for ALL.THE.IDEAS., and the one I can count on to keep my compass pointing north and my sanity in check.

Aaaand... this is me. πŸ‘‰πŸ‘‰

I'm a blogger (obviously) with a passion to help people eat real food and live healthier on a budget. But I also love to read and exercise and one day I hope to finish a marathon.

I'm an ESTJ, which means I love to alphabetize our small library of books and organize closets, but hate to think of things to do when family visits or deciding which craft project to do next with the kids. I'm not very graceful and thus the world's worst dancer. I'll eat pretty much anything except black licorice or fennel.

I'm also recovering peanut butter addict. I used to eat 1/2 container of peanut butter with a sleeve of saltine crackers before bed (YIKES!). My favorite ice cream is pumpkin (with cookie dough in a close 2nd place) and I have three piercings in each ear (and three tattoos!). I was born in Illinois, grew up in Texas, lived in California for 8 years and now call Georgia home. My favorite Sundays are those curled up on the sofa with my family and watching a movie with a big bowl of margarita popcorn.

And there you have it! Thanks for letting me share a peek into my life, Reader. Guess what – it’s your turn!

Would you take a few minutes to introduce yourself if you haven’t already? Just hit “reply” to this email and tell me all the good stuff… about your family, what you love, what your days are filled..

I'd specially love to know what your greatest struggle is. I read every single email and I promise you’ll get a response!

Blessings,

Tiffany
