Foreign Policy, in partnership with the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, will host a conversation next Tuesday, May 10, exploring the 2022 Gelber Prize winning book, The American War in Afghanistan: A History. Author Carter Malkasian, a former military advisor and historical expert on the strategic paths that shaped the war, will provide closer insights on his work—and the lessons that leaders can take away from the conflict.
What missteps did the U.S. take during its approach to intervening in Afghanistan? How has the Taliban’s control of the region evolved since the withdrawal?
