Monday, 22 March World TB Day Advance Press Conference WHO Global TB Programme will release new data from over 75 countries on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the TB response, and launch new guidelines on systematic TB screening to help countries bridge the gap in diagnosis and care at a virtual press briefing at 14:30 CET. More here. Frame of Mind: A Conversation about Art and Healing The Healing Arts 2021 campaign occurs 22-26 March. Healing Arts London brings together a cultural coalition to present a five-day programme of events alongside a charity auction by Christie’s. Online events begin 22 March at 1700 CET with a conversation between actor Gillian Anderson and WHO Arts & Health Lead Christopher Bailey with special guests sculptor Sir Antony Gormley and WHO’s Director General. More on the Healing Arts 2021 campaign. Health for All Film Festival shortlist and jury The 2nd Health for All Film Festival has attracted nearly 1200 short film submissions from 110 countries. On Monday, WHO will announce the 15 titles shortlisted in three competition categories: Universal Health Coverage, Health emergencies, and Better health and well-being. WHO will also release the list of distinguished professionals, artists and activists joining WHO experts to form the Festival jury. The jury will advise WHO's Director-General on three “GRAND PRIX” to be announced on 13 May and three special prizes. More here. Wednesday, 24 March World TB Day is observed on 24 March each year to raise public awareness and understanding about TB and its devastating health, social and economic impact on people around the world. The theme of World TB Day 2021 - ‘The Clock is Ticking’ – conveying a strong message that the world is running out of time to act on the commitments made by global leaders to end TB. World TB Day 2021: WHO Online Talk ShowAt an online talk show to commemorate World TB Day at 13:00 CET, speakers will include WHO leaders, Health Ministers and high-level government representatives, Heads of Agencies, TB survivors, civil society and partners. Monday, 29 March Covering the COVID-19 vaccine: What journalists need to know The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas at the University of Texas-Austin, in partnership with WHO, UNESCO, and UNDP, will launch its second massive, open online course (MOOC) for journalists covering the COVID-19 pandemic on 29 March. This free course, initially in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish, is a four-week interactive programme that will examine many of the challenging and evolving aspects of the vaccine rollout such as the science of the development of the vaccines already released as well as of those being created, the policies of acquisition and distribution of vaccines globally and questions of equity, vaccine hesitancy, anti-vaccination activism, mis- and disinformation against vaccines, population immunity and emerging variants of the virus.
