I know that sounds a little dramatic, but I’m not kidding.
Ever since I started making this burger recipe at home, my husband and I can barely order burgers at restaurants anymore. We always end up comparing them to this one, and honestly, most of the time they just don’t come close.
This burger is simple, juicy, perfectly seasoned, and tastes like the kind of burger you’d order from a really good burger spot - except you can make it right at home with a few basic ingredients.
The secret is using the right ground beef, seasoning it well, adding just enough moisture, and not overcooking it. That’s it. Nothing fancy, but it makes such a difference.
If you’re making burgers during the summer, having a good set of grill tools makes everything so much easier.
A sturdy spatula, good tongs, and a reliable set of grilling tools are helpful for burgers, chicken, vegetables, and all the simple summer dinners we make again and again. They also make a great Father’s Day gift if you’re looking for something useful that will actually get used.

My Top 3 Tips for Making the Best Burger
1. Use 85/15 ground beef. If you want a juicy burger, the type of ground beef matters. I like using 85/15 ground beef because it has the perfect amount of fat to keep the burger moist and flavorful. You can use leaner beef, but the burger won’t be quite as juicy. For me, 85/15 is the sweet spot.
2. Don’t skip the seasoning. Seasoning is what takes a basic burger and makes it taste like something you’d order from a restaurant. See my perfect seasoning mix here.
3. Don’t overcook or press down on the burgers. This is huge. Don’t press down on the burgers while they cook. I know it’s tempting, but that pushes out all the juices — and those juices are what keep the burger flavorful.
Let the burgers cook, flip them once, and then let them rest for a minute before serving. That little resting time helps keep the juices in the burger instead of running all over the plate.
Meal Prep Tips
Burgers are one of my favorite recipes to prep ahead, especially during grilling season.
Here are a few easy ways to make them work for meal prep:
✅ Make the patties ahead of time. Mix the ingredients together, form the patties, and store them in the refrigerator for a day or two before cooking.
✅ Use parchment paper between patties. This keeps them from sticking together and makes it easier to grab what you need.
✅ Freeze the patties for later. Form the burgers, place parchment paper between each one, and freeze them in a freezer bag or container. Thaw completely before cooking.
You can serve these burgers on a bun, open-faced, wrapped in lettuce, or bunless with all your favorite toppings.
Side Dishes to Serve With Burgers
These burgers are perfect with classic summer sides, but I also love pairing them with lighter, veggie-packed options.
Whether you’re making these for Father’s Day, a summer cookout, or just because you want a really good burger at home, this is the recipe I’d start with.
