An armed man surrendered to police near CIA headquarters in McLean after a standoff that lasted several hours.

Officers from multiple agencies converged on the area yesterday after reports emerged of an incident near the grounds. Police called in negotiators and closed roads in the neighborhood while the armed suspect barricaded himself.

The suspect was thought to be having a mental health crisis. The spy agency confirmed that there was a security incident near its grounds but didn't provide details.

No injuries have been reported, and no charges have been filed yet.

Gov. Glenn Youngkin promoted the "Virginia Has Jobs" initiative during a stop at the STIHL manufacturing plant in Virginia Beach. The program aims to connect job seekers with over 250,000 open positions across the state. Additional resources are also available to the recently unemployed.

"I particularly want our federal workers who are experiencing anxiety and may experience job disruption to know there's opportunity here," Youngkin said, adding that the initiative will host a virtual job fair for people in Hampton Roads on Tuesday.

The governor stated the economy remains strong and that nonfarm payroll employment in Virginia increased by 7,100 people in January.

However, the state reported earlier this week that unemployment claims jumped in the first full week of March, up 40% from the end of February.

Fairfax County Police allege that a 16-year-old boy is responsible for more than 50 incidents of hate-based graffiti and vandalism around Burke.

Officers said they nabbed the suspect last week in a business's loading dock area. He had spray paint on his hands and was toting a bag containing spray paint cans and a hammer.

Some of the graffiti "was random, just words, pictures," Fairfax County Police official Gregory Fried said. "Some of it was bias-related, certainly highly offensive, but at this time, we don't believe that that was his intention."

Authorities estimate the total damage to be around $3,500.
