| Judge Sanctioned for Releasing Jailed Son An Ohio judge was sanctioned by the state Supreme Court for ordering his son's release from jail. Portsmouth Municipal Court Judge Russell Kegley received a six-month stayed suspension, meaning his law license will be suspended if he commits further misconduct during that period. In May 2023, Kegley's son, Case Kegley, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife at their home. The judge instructed a corrections officer to release him on bond. The son was arrested again after his wife reported that he returned to the home. Portsmouth Municipal Court policy, which Kegley helped establish, mandates that defendants facing domestic violence charges be held without bond until their initial appearance before a judge. | Pro-Gun Law Takes Effect Next Month An Ohio law designed to protect firearms owners from regulations and financial tracking will go into effect in April. The law prohibits state and local governments from requiring liability insurance for firearm possession, aiming to remove financial barriers to gun ownership. The law also prevents credit card companies, banks, or other financial institutions from using special codes to flag firearm and ammunition purchases. It also prohibits financial institutions from compiling lists of gun owners and sharing purchase information. Ohio is the 18th state to pass firearm privacy laws, joining neighbors Kentucky, Indiana, and West Virginia. | Cleveland Monument Readies Spring Events With spring officially here, Cleveland's Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument is preparing to welcome visitors for multiple events. Next month, the site will host its annual Tunnel Tours, featuring guest speakers and guided walkthroughs of the 19th-century tunnels beneath the monument. In May, the site will hold a Veterans' Mental Health Fair and a Memorial Day service. At the fair, a statue of a dog who accompanied the 104th Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War will be unveiled. The site is Cuyahoga County's monument to the Civil War, and features a tablet room listing residents who served in the war. | |
Flying together with our sponsor Did you know that collagen deficiency strikes nearly everyone over the age of 30? This is because after you turn 30, you start losing 1% of collagen per year. Which is a bad thing. You see, collagen is the "glue" that holds your body together. And without enough collagen your body literally starts falling apart (FAST!). Some of the warning signs are a droopy neck, brittle nails, dry flaky hair, and deep lines around your mouth and eyes. When people start noticing these signs, they often turn to expensive collagen powders for help. Only problem? They're INCOMPLETE, and therefore useless. | |
