But let's be honest… some of them just take up space and collect dust. | | In this email, I'm breaking down 10 kitchen gadgets you don't actually need—and 5 kitchen tools I can't live without! 10 Kitchen Gadgets You DON'T need: 1. Bread Machine it doesn't take that long to do the steps, and this is huge and difficult to clean. Our Homemade Bread recipe walks you through every step with pictures! Artisan No Kneed Bread is another great recipe for beginners. 2. Rice Cooker (unless you cook rice every day, I don't think it's a necessity) 3. Single Use Slicers (avocado, egg, apple, banana, etc) 4. Single-use appliances- quesadilla maker, grilled cheese maker, panini maker, cake pop maker, breakfast sandwich maker, etc. (the only "maker" I own is a waffle maker :) 5. Salad Spinner- a clean kitchen towel works great without the extra gadget. (I highly recommend Geometry kitchen towels) 6. Smoothie maker - a reg. blender does the job just fine. 7. Egg cooker, peeler, poacher, etc. A pot of water and a timer work great, and I've never found a tool for peeling that actually works! 8. Honey dipper: such a silly one- just use a spoon and be done with it.😉 9. Juicer- unless you are juicing daily, a handheld citrus juicer or blender works better and takes up less space. 10. A giant knife block- a few really good quality knives are all you need. I love this wooden drawer knife organizer option -it's just nice not to have a giant block on the counter! |
5 Must Haves: 1. Quality Kitchen Knives: I may have given this away in my top 10 list, but I believe a high-quality chef's knife and a small 5" serrated knife are better- and safer than a bunch of cheap ones. I brought these two to Spain and definitely use them the most! 2. A Cast iron skillet is so versatile for everything from searing steaks to baking cornbread. The Staub skillet is my #1 choice. The Lodge skillet is a more affordable option. 3. A Digital Meat Thermometer helps ensure perfectly cooked meat every time! 4. Blender or food processor (smoothies, soups, chopping- a must-have for speed and ease.) 5. Instant Pot or Slow Cooker (perfect for hands-off cooking and making everything from soups to roasts) |
