David Hector Rivas-Sagastume, 21, an illegal immigrant from Honduras, was charged with murder in the strangling death of Camilla Williams, a 52-year-old mother of five from Marietta.

The suspect was apprehended and released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in March 2021.

Williams' killing is drawing parallels to the murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, who was murdered last year by an illegal immigrant released by authorities.

Police accuse Rivas-Sagastume of killing Williams late on March 11 or early on March 12 by placing her in a chokehold and then kneeling on her neck, according to an arrest warrant.
