Confused by the latest wellness trends? Let's break it down! | | Hi there, Every week there's a new wellness trend to keep up with. One minute oat milk is the best thing for you, the next it's demonised. We're told to track everything - our steps, our sleep, our blood sugar... but do we really need to? And while we all want to eat well, it's getting more expensive and less accessible than ever. That's exactly why I started The Wellness Scoop podcast with my co-host Rhiannon in January. We both wanted a space to make sense of these conversations, separate fact from fiction, and figure out what really matters (and have a good chat every week!). Over the last two months, we've explored some of the biggest wellness debates – from Ozempic and weight loss drugs to glucose monitors, sleep trackers, whether oat milk deserves the backlash, how much ultra-processed food companies really know about the impact of their products, and the cost of healthy eating. Here's some of the topics I've enjoyed most: | | Why is eating well so expensive?
The latest Broken Plate report confirmed what many of us already feel – healthy food is becoming harder to afford. It now costs twice as much per calorie as less nutritious options, and prices have risen twice as fast in the last two years. The most deprived households would need to spend 45% of their disposable income on food just to meet government nutrition guidelines, rising to 70% for families with children.
It's not just about personal choices. Our food system is making it harder to access nutritious food. But what can we do about it? We unpack what's behind these rising costs and share practical ways to eat well on a budget. | | My new favourite wellness hack: hot girl walks |

My new favourite wellness hack: hot girl walks
Some wellness trends are overcomplicated, but this one makes a lot of sense. The hot girl walk has over 600 million views on TikTok and is all about getting outside, moving your body, and clearing your head. No expensive memberships, no fancy gear – just walking. We talk about why it's one of the most underrated ways to boost mood, energy, and even digestion. And new research backs this up – showing that simple habits like walking and even dancing can be just as effective as structured workouts for improving overall health. A reminder that wellness doesn't have to be complicated to be impactful. | | Oat milk backlash—justified or overhyped? | | Oat milk was once the wellness world's favourite dairy alternative, but now headlines are asking: where did it all go wrong? Social media is full of claims that it spikes blood sugar, causes bloating, even going as far as saying your oat milk latte is killing you. Meanwhile, dairy is making a comeback – 81% of young Europeans now drink cow's milk at least once a week. But is oat milk really that bad, or is this just another example of a food trend shifting in a new direction? Rhi and I have been chatting through the facts behind the controversy (spoiler: your coffee isn't killing you). | | If you're curious about any of these topics, tune in to The Wellness Scoop this week – we break it all down so you can make informed, stress-free choices about what works for you.
