U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services shot and killed a wolf that had traveled from Colorado to Wyoming and killed five sheep, officials confirmed Thursday.

On March 15, Wildlife Services responded to reports of sheep killings and found evidence of wolf depredation. Later that day, they killed the wolf thought to be responsible, which wore a Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) collar.

The wolf was one of 15 released in January as part of Colorado's reintroduction program. It came from an area with no wolf-livestock overlap, something CPW hoped would minimize depredation conflicts.

Though wolves in Colorado are protected by the Endangered Species Act, it's legal to kill them in much of Wyoming. Two others have been illegally killed in Colorado.

A federal judge issued an injunction on Friday to prevent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from deporting Jeanette Vizguerra, the immigration activist detained by ICE last week.

Vizguerra's lawyers had filed a writ of habeas corpus and a petition for review with the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, challenging ICE's authority to detain and deport her. Friday's ruling prohibited Vizguerra's deportation pending a decision by the court.

ICE earlier stated that Vizguerra, who illegally entered the U.S. in 1997, "has a final order of deportation" and has already "received legal due process in U.S. immigration court."

Vizguerra is scheduled to appear in federal court on March 28. The judge says the case "raises complex issues" about the legality of her arrest.

A UCHealth patient became the first person in the U.S. to receive a groundbreaking Parkinson's treatment on Friday, performed by doctors at the University of Colorado (CU) Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.

The treatment, known as adaptive deep brain stimulation (aDBS), expands on existing technology by allowing electrodes to adapt in real time using the patient's brain signals, providing more precise and effective symptom management.

On March 21, researchers successfully delivered the first aDBS therapy outside of a research setting in the U.S. to a 74-year-old UCHealth patient. Thanks to the advanced technology, the patient's tremors subsided within minutes.

Starting today, the treatment will be available at several centers in the U.S., including UCHealth. Patients who already have deep brain stimulators can reprogram their existing system in a matter of hours.
