| Hobbs Proposes $3M for Colorado River Dispute Gov. Katie Hobbs has asked for a $3 million legal savings fund in her proposed budget to ensure Arizona receives its fair share of Colorado River water if rationing is ever needed. Arizona is currently in a multistate negotiation over who gets water first—and how much—during periods of shortages.
The Colorado River serves seven states and Mexico, and while state officials aimed for a consensus at a December conference, they also noted "differences of opinions." Here's a video report. The main argument is one of water allotment between the upper basin (Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Wyoming), and lower basin (Arizona, California, and Nevada). Sarah Porter, ASU's director for water policy, said of the two basins, "They're absolutely at an impasse." | Bank Robber Accidentally Turns Himself In A bank robber unknowingly turned himself in when he walked into the Bullhead City Police Department to report himself as the victim of a crime. Following two January bank robberies in Bullhead City and Kingman, police received a tip after releasing the surveillance footage online. Shortly later, they identified John Steiner, 37, as their suspect. As Bullhead City Police prepared a warrant, Steiner walked into the lobby to report that someone had pointed a gun at him and accused him on social media of being the bank robber. Police arrested Steiner on the spot. In his vehicle, they found clothing that matched what was worn during the two robberies, as well as the notes he allegedly used to demand money from the bank tellers. | Taylor Sheridan Sets Million-Dollar Horse Contest "Yellowstone" producer Taylor Sheridan announced the upcoming arrival of The Cactus Reining Classic, an equine event with several large cash prizes.
