Vice President JD Vance traveled to Damascus, Virginia, on Monday to address Hurricane Helene survivors, noting that victims in Tennessee and Virginia will not be forgotten.

Vance landed at Tri-Cities Airport, where he was greeted by Tennessee Republican Rep. Diana Harshbarger before he traveled to Damascus.

"Our promise and our focus is going to be on leaving no American behind. That includes those in Tennessee and also those in Damascus," the vice president said in his remarks.

Vance stated that approximately $4 billion has been allocated for Virginia flood recovery, but as of Monday, only $47 million has been distributed or committed.

A chance encounter through a family friend led Tennessee singer Demaree, a former Broadway performer turned office worker, to record a duet with country music legend Dolly Parton.

The unexpected meeting occurred when Parton visited her longtime friend Judy Ogle's home, where Demaree and her mother were present.

Released earlier this week, their cover of You'll Never Walk Alone from Carousel holds special significance for Demaree's family—the song comforted her mother after she lost her own mother as a teenager.

Despite balancing single parenthood and a full-time job, Demaree, who played Cosette in Les Miserables on Broadway as a child, continues to pursue her music career independently. Listen to the song here.

A Special Note from Our CEO, Cole

Dear Flyover Readers,

I hope you enjoy The Tennessee Flyover as much as we enjoy bringing it to you every morning. It's truly an honor to provide you with the news in a format that's easy to read, unbiased, and written with care. Earlier this month, I had the privilege of bringing our entire national Flyover team together in one place.

From 12 different states, our team of writers, editors, fact-checkers, proofreaders, developers, engineers, and more gathered to plan, strategize, and, most importantly, connect. We shared meals, laughed, and brainstormed ways to make The Tennessee Flyover even better for you, our readers.

Our team works incredibly hard each day, sifting through hundreds of stories (so you don't have to) to deliver you the news that matters most. While many media companies are downsizing and losing viewers, The Flyover is doing something different.

We're growing. Today, we bring the news to more than 35,000 readers in Tennessee alone—and as you know, The Tennessee Flyover is and always will be 100% free of charge. I couldn't be more grateful to count you among our most loyal readers.

While advertisers provide a portion of our funding, we also rely on readers like you to keep The Tennessee Flyover flying. Your support helps us maintain the team, tools, and resources that make our news publication possible.

If you've found value in The Tennessee Flyover—if it's made your mornings better, kept you informed, or simply been a trusted source of news—I would greatly appreciate your financial support. Even a small contribution can go a long way in helping us continue to deliver the unbiased, trustworthy news you deserve. Thank you for being part of our community. We couldn't do this without you.

Warm regards,
Cole
