Click here ![]() Friday, 31 January 2025 MEDIA ADVISORY 156th Session of the WHO Executive Board, 03 to 11 February 2025 Geneva, 30 January 2025 – The 156th session of the WHO Executive Board (EB156) will be held from 03 to 11 February 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland, during which the Board will address approximately 47 items and sub-items on its agenda, with 36 draft resolutions expected. The session will open at 09.30 CET on Monday, 03 February. Shortly after, WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus will address the Executive Board (EB) and present his report. The working hours will be from 09.30 to 12:30 and 14.30 to 17.30 CET on Monday, while on the remaining days of the session, EB will meet from 10.00 to 13.00 and 14.30 to 17.30 CET (see the preliminary programme of work). Meeting documents and the daily timetable for the 156th session are available in six UN languages here. The EB156 public proceedings will be webcast live from this page. During the session, the Board will discuss WHO governance reform, including the financing and implementation of the Programme Budget 2024-2025 and the proposed Programme Budget for 2026-2027 (expected on Monday, 03 February), appoint a Regional Director for Europe and consider draft resolutions and decisions proposed by Member States. On Thursday, 06 February, the Board will hear the report of the Standing Committee on Health Emergency, Prevention, Preparedness and Response, and the reports of the Director-General on WHO’s work in health emergencies, including on the response in 2024 to 45 health emergencies across 87 countries, and on health implications of ongoing humanitarian crises. Reports and texts on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, mental health and social connection, global strategy for women’s, children’s, and adolescents’ health, oral health, elimination of cervical cancer, traditional medicine, substandard and falsified medical products, health and care workforce, and universal health care, among others, will also be on the agenda. The main functions of the WHO Executive Board are to implement the decisions and policies of the World Health Assembly and to advise and generally facilitate its work.
