Colorado State Tax Filings Delayed

Tax season officially started on Jan. 27, with the IRS accepting federal returns. However, residents of Colorado are experiencing delays in filing their state income taxes.

In a statement on Jan. 23, the Colorado Department of Revenue explained that it is still completing preparations to ensure a secure and efficient tax season.

An official announcement regarding when the state will begin processing 2024 tax returns is expected in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, Coloradans can focus on filing federal taxes, which are due April 15.

Spectator Killed in Hammer Throw Accident

A tragic accident occurred at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs on Sunday when a spectator was killed during a high school track and field meet.

During the hammer throw event, a competitor’s hammer cleared safety barriers and struck a man in the audience.

According to Colorado Springs police, the man, identified as 57-year-old Wade Langston, died shielding his wife and son from the 25-pound hammer.

Langston was the father of a Colorado United Track Club competitor who attends Vista Ridge High School.

Stock Show Ends with Record Auction

The 2025 National Western Stock Show has concluded after attracting over 658,109 visitors during its two-week run in Denver.

Despite frigid temperatures—91 consecutive hours below freezing—the event ranked among the top 10 in attendance in its history.

This year's Junior Livestock Champions Auction raised a record-breaking $1,452,500, with proceeds benefiting the National Western Scholarship Trust.
