We're coming off of the first big sales event of the year, and during those times I have deal tunnel vision: I'm hyper focused on finding the best possible prices on splurgy kitchen favorites like Vitamixes and espresso machines for you.
Now that Prime Day is over, I can take a more subtle approach to deal hunting. This week, I focused on restocking my kitchen with essentials—and finding ways to shave a few dollars off of that restock with lingering deals on Amazon. Here are a few things that make my life better on a daily basis, all on sale now.
Linking and building?
If putting collagen powder in your morning coffee does anything to your skin and hair, I certainly haven't noticed. But we're all supposed to get more protein, right? My loyalty to Vital Proteins is one part delusion and two parts respect for its utter lack of intervening flavor in my coffee. It's on sale now, 31% off. Or, try the also- on-sale Ancient Nutrition collagen powder, recommended by Bon Appetit.
Dealing with a...situation
I'm embarrassed to say this to a large newsletter audience but, um, I have fruit flies in my kitchen right now. I refuse to acknowledge that it has to do with my firmly held belief that refrigerating farmers market tomatoes is wrong. But what I will do is take advantage of a little discount on Bar Keeper's Friend bundled with a microfiber scrubber, plus a favorite cleaning spray, and deep clean my kitchen.
The same brand that makes that spray, Aunt Fannie's, has a fruit fly trapping liquid on sale for (an admittedly silly) 5% off. You can just trap flies with a perforated plastic wrapped glass of apple cider vinegar, but I love to throw $7 dollars at a problem.
While we're at it, a few more cleaning things
My friend Pippa told me that she sprinkles lavender essential oil on her sheets and pillows when she makes her bed—the relaxing scent wafts up again at night when you tuck yourself in. I copied her, and now I think it's one of the nicest things you could do for yourself, and a relatively inexpensive way to make your home feel like luxe hotel. I've experimented with different scents (these are my favorites) and started sprinkling it at the bottom of my sink after I deep clean it, too.
I've been wanting to try a silicone bottle brush to see if it'll be easier to keep clean than a bristled one and won't need to be replaced every few months. I'm going to try this one that's 20% off and I'll report back. (Email me or DM me if you have bottle brush recommendations, or any that you'd like our editors to put to the test!)
You can also get a three pack of the Euroscrubby, one of our all-time favorite dish-doing tools, for 18% off.
