I've fallen out of a good breakfast routine in the last few years since having kids, but our good old friend OAT BRAN is bringing me back! This week's post outlines the method I'm using to make it extra creamy and protein-packed (hint: eggs!). A bit of melty butter and maple syrup on top… mmm mmm mmm yes. It reminds me of the cream of wheat I used to eat as a kid, but with a solid nutritional punch! My daughters will not go back to regular oatmeal after I started making this - they're hooked on this creamy, feel-good oat bran right along with me!
Oat bran is similar to oatmeal, but instead of the whole oat, it's just the outer part of it! It looks and tastes kind of like crushed-up oats. It's higher in fiber, protein, B vitamins, and iron, too. This is why I love it personally:
It's creamy and soothing, like a porridge!
It takes so little time to cook. Like, 3 minutes or less.
The oat bran alone has 7 grams protein and 7 grams of fiber per serving, plus even more if you cook it into a creamy delight with milk and eggs and add some fruit, which I definitely do!
Locally, I buy oat bran at Kowalski's, but you can also buy it on Amazon! (affiliate link)
