| Hey there reader! 🌟 👋 I hope you're having a great day. I wish I could start every newsletter by sharing a list of goals I've smashed and tell you about how I leap out of bed each morning, buzzing with energy and ready to conquer anything that comes my way. But let's be honest, that's not always how life works, is it? And even if it were, I doubt it would sound very believable. After all, I'm just as human as you are. This week wasn't about falling off the wagon or anything dramatic. In fact, I've been quite consistent with my routines, which I'm happy about. 🥱 But, I've been feeling tired. My neck and back have been aching since Sunday (pretty sure I slept weird), and with tax season in full swing, there's been a lot to handle. It was one of those weeks where the idea of curling up and binge-watching the Housewives was incredibly tempting. But, I didn't give in to that temptation. Sure, I might have let the Housewives keep me company in the background while I worked, but I didn't just check out. Deep down, I didn't want a rough week to knock me off course. So, here's what I did: ✅ I kept tracking my food. Even on days when I exceeded my daily goals, I didn't let things spiral out of control because I stayed aware. This was a big deal for me. It's something one of my Reset & Flourish Program students mentioned they were doing too, which really inspired me to keep at it. ✅ I also kept up with my exercise. It might not have been my most stellar week for workouts, but I didn't want to break the habit. So, I spent my usual exercise time walking on the treadmill in my basement. I listened to music and podcasts, using that time to unwind more than anything. I didn't push myself too hard but made sure to stay active. ✅ And here's a biggie - I left my phone in the kitchen at night. Mike and I could relax and watch TV without the constant temptation to check my phone. I'm thinking I might need a bit of a phone detox, or at least to get better at putting it away after work hours. I'm always "just checking," which means my brain never really gets a break. It's something I'm looking to change. 👉 The takeaway from this week? It's all about making time and space for your habits, even if it's just the basics. I've realized that replacing those habits with something like lounging on the couch with popcorn is when I really start to derail. 👉 I also knew that completely giving up would stress me out even more. I wanted to keep moving forward, even if I couldn't give it my all. Reflecting on the past week, now feeling rested and better, I'm actually proud of myself and excited to dive into the next week. Alright, let's get to the rest of the newsletter. 🎙️ Latest Podcast Episode On this week's Reset & Flourish Podcast, we dove into a topic that hits close to home for many of us: the challenge of not always being able to put your all into your weight loss journey. This discussion couldn't have come at a better time! I opened up about a reality many of us face – even the most dedicated among us can't always give 100% to our weight loss efforts. Yet, this doesn't mean we should shy away from setting ambitious goals for ourselves. I delved into how there's a stark difference between facing struggles due to life's inevitable ups and downs, and encountering obstacles because we haven't structured our lives to foster success. To wrap things up, I explored the transformative concept of becoming just 1% better each day. This principle is a cornerstone of habit change, and I'm confident you'll find it both inspiring and practical. 🏃🏻♀️ Lifestyle Tips Back in 2010, when I first started my weight loss journey, the concept of clean eating was completely off my radar. At that time, my focus was squarely on counting calories without much thought for the quality of those calories. Yes, I know better now! However, a few months in, I stumbled upon the documentary "Food Matters" and the book "In Defense of Food," and they completely transformed my perspective on food. It was a real eye-opener, and I started paying attention to not just the quantity but the quality of food I was consuming. This was the beginning of my shift towards a clean eating lifestyle. I began to prioritize clean, wholesome, nutrient-dense foods over mere calorie counting - still keeping track of proteins. This shift didn't just help me feel better; it also had a noticeable impact on my appearance. Adopting a clean eating lifestyle might sound daunting, but it's actually quite straightforward – at least, it was for me. I've put together a post with some beginner tips to make clean eating as simple and accessible as possible.
