First, can I tell you how much I love this photo? My mother's hand, spooning a fresh batch of her gorgeous homemade yogurt. Early morning, still in bathrobes. I remember the moment well, as she was right in step with me in those early years of creating the recipes and posts for my website. "It worked!" said. "It worked!" I said.
That's because yogurt made in this rather simple, old fashioned way without a yogurt maker (and completely unsweetened) can be . . . finicky? The reasons for this are as countless as the number of kitchens the laban is made in, because atmosphere is such a big player in the fermentation. Still, more often: it works!
Let's get to it. Who's in for making a batch of yogurt at home?! I made some this week for the first time in a while, and it's so so so so good. We'll use it in a whole lot of ways that I'll be back to share tomorrow.
