| | Thank You and Next Steps for the 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee Appointment Process The Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Agriculture (USDA) thank all the individuals and organizations that submitted nominations to serve on the 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (Committee). We recognize the tremendous effort that went into each submission and are thankful to our partners for helping to promote this opportunity so broadly. Where are we in the process? - HHS and USDA reviewed all the nomination packages and are working to select a diverse group of qualified scientific experts.
- Proposed candidates will be reviewed by Department leadership, including an ethics review.
- The Secretaries of HHS and USDA will appoint the Committee jointly.
- Our goal is to appoint the Committee in early 2023.
What happens once the Committee is appointed? - Following appointment, the Committee will receive training, including ethics and Federal Advisory Committee Act training.
- Throughout its review of the evidence in 2023 and 2024, the Committee will hold approximately six meetings, all open to the public, and will accept public comments.
- The Committee will submit its scientific report to the Secretaries of HHS and USDA, concluding its work.
- HHS and USDA then will develop the next edition of the Dietary Guidelines.
Thank you for your continued participation in the process to develop the next edition of the Dietary Guidelines. There will be more opportunities to be involved. To learn more, visit DietaryGuidelines.gov. | | | |
