But for some reason, in October 2010, I had a couple of big "a-ha" moments and decided it was time to get my life (and weight under control). So, once October hits I always take time to reflect on moments (lessons) in my journey.

Okay, let's keep it moving.
The first moment happened when a friend shared a few random pictures of myself on Facebook, and I was mortified - I couldn't believe the person I transformed into; I was a tired, stressed-out, unhealthy hot mess of a mom.
The second moment happened when I started to pay attention and track the food I ate - did you know I was eating close to 3000+ calories a day. Yup!
Then I slowly started to make changes to my lifestyle.
- I put together meal plans.
- I made time to meal prep.
- I tracked every bite, sip, and lick.
- I put in place other habits that made it easier for me to change my lifestyle as a busy working mom.
Guess what? All of those habits worked! I lost 40lbs, never looked better, and I felt amazing.
But more importantly, I started to experience a positive domino effect of sorts.
- The chaos in my life, and ultimately my stress level, significantly decreased.
- My confidence level shot through the roof.
- I went from hot mess mom to a confident woman; I honestly felt I could do anything. Actually, I started this blog six months after starting my weight loss journey, and ten years later, I'm still here. Hi! π
And like I said, I learned so much on this 11-year journey.
I started as a 35-year old mom to two young girls, working full-time outside of the home. Now, I'm a 46-year old hormonal mom to teenagers who are heavily involved in activities, and I also run a full-time business from home.
I've continued to prioritize a healthier lifestyle even while transitioning through different seasons of life.
I'm not saying it's always easy, or I haven't fallen (hard) during that time. It took adapting and adjusting instead of forcing old ways into a new life - if that makes sense. But, again, I'm still here.
Over the next week, I'm going to share the most important lessons I've learned between then and now.
