HSE's international scientific networking and collaborations are used to help ensure we have access to the best available scientific evidence to inform regulatory decision making and prevent death, injury and ill health at work. We share scientific information through our networks to identify emerging health and safety issues and share findings on effective control measures for current risks. We also participate in collaborative research to maximise the effectiveness of our resources in delivering key scientific evidence, including: PEROSH: The Partnership for European Research in Occupational Safety and Health HSE is a founder member, through its research laboratory, of the PEROSH partnership of 14 national research institutes across Europe. The PEROSH vision is that policymakers, workplaces and other stakeholders across Europe are inspired by and use knowledge generated by PEROSH in their efforts to develop innovative and sustainable workplaces which are healthy and safe. HSE's Head of Science Quality and Impact, Dr Mary Trainor, leads this article providing an overview of the PEROSH Joint Research Programme, including details on information sharing workshops and the international 'Wellbeing at Work' conference series. Sign up for the PEROSH newsletter. The Sheffield Group HSE's Chief Scientific Adviser, Professor Andrew Curran, chairs the 'Sheffield Group', an informal network of Research Directors for national occupational safety and health institutes whose members span four continents: North America (IRSST- Canada and NIOSH-USA); Oceania (NIOH-New Zealand); Asia (IIOSH- Israel, JNIOSH-Japan, KOSHA-South Korea and WSHI-Singapore); and Europe. International Association for Hydrogen Energy (IA HySafe) Hydrogen technologies have the potential to be used to decarbonise the future energy system. To enable their safe uptake, it is important to develop the international scientific evidence base on the potential risks to safety and how to control them effectively. Professor Stuart Hawksworth, Head of HSE's Centre for Energy and Major Hazards, is the President of IA HySAFE which acts to promote cost effective, coordinated research in the field of hydrogen safety. Read our report on the outcome of a HSE-hosted IA HySafe workshop on research priorities, which is shaping international research activities. |
