The following Global Agricultural Information Network (GAIN) reports were released on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.

Algeria: Grain and Feed Update

The Ministry of Agriculture has not yet released figures regarding the MY2020/21 grain harvest. The Ministry will allocate 3.5 million hectares to cereal plantings for MY2021/22. The wheat industry has been granted an additional transitional period before the decrees related to lifting the wheat subsidies will be implemented. Algeria will still need to import wheat to fulfil domestic demand and maintain stocks while working to improve domestic production.

Argentina: Oilseeds and Products Update

Post projects Argentine 2020/21 soybean production at 47.5 million tons, 500,000 tons below USDA official. 2020/21 sunflowerseed production is lowered to 2.65 million tons, 250,000 tons below USDA official. While heavy rains in January allowed for a recuperation of oilseed crops in much of the country, dryer weather in Buenos Aires Province is leading to lower yield projections. Post raises peanut production 50,000 tons to 1.4 million tons on good weather conditions in southern Cordoba and San Luis Provinces. After strikes cut oilseed processing volumes to record lows in December, plants have restocked and Post anticipates a strong crush leading up to harvest in March.

Brazil: Implementation of RenovaBio - Brazil's National Biofuels Policy

On January 20, 2021, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro sent newly inaugurated President Biden a letter noting that Brazil has demonstrated its commitment to the Paris Agreement. One example of this commitment is Brazil's recently implemented National Biofuels Policy, known as RenovaBio. The program is designed to support the country's commitments formulated at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21). The USDA Mission in Brazil has made steady efforts to ensure the program's regulations provide fair treatment for corn-based ethanol, which is often imported from the United States.

European Union: Poultry and Products Semi-annual

Most governments in Europe intermittently closed restaurants, businesses and implemented lock-downs since late February 2020 because of the worldwide COVID-19 epidemic. Cross border trade slowed and demand for imported products slumped. Those disruptions led to an overall 1.5 percent decline in EU27+UK chicken meat production. Imports fell more significantly as a large share of imported chicken meat is sold to the HRI sector. Exports shrank by 4.6 percent as many importing countries also banned EU chicken due to Avian Influenza outbreaks. Consumption declined by two percent, as the increase in retail chicken meat sales did not compensate for losses in the HRI sector. EU-27+UK chicken meat production, imports and consumption in CY 2021 are forecast to increase from 2020 with COVID-19 vaccination programs underway in 2021 and a likely return to open restaurants by summer or fall. However, EU-27+UK chicken meat exports will continue to be restricted by AI-related bans.

Kazakhstan: Grain and Feed Update

This report contains FAS Nur-Sultan's revised production estimate for MY 2019/2020, as well as trade estimates for MY 2020/2021. There were a number of policy issues since the previous October 2020 Grain and Feed Update. The MY2020/21 production forecast is based on market experts' opinion.

Peru: Oilseeds and Products Annual

Fishmeal production in MY 2021/2022 is forecast at 900,000 MT. Fishmeal exports in MY 2021/2022 are estimated at 894,000 MT, remaining at the same levels as the previous year. The COVID-19 pandemic impacted the Peruvian fishing industry by limiting the catch and processing capacity.

Vietnam: Rice Trade - Monthly

This report provides trade data on Vietnam's monthly rice exports by grade and destination and weekly export quotes for rice by grade.
