| The Competent Authority (CA) was set-up in 2015 with its role being to oversee industry compliance with the UK regulations which implemented the Directive 2013/30/EU and to undertake related functions such as accepting, assessing, approving and/or inspecting relevant Safety Cases, Oil Pollution Emergency Plans, Well Notifications and other notifications. Reporting of incidents are included as are intervention planning and investigation work. Although now not a requirement to follow the Directive we still work in partnership to comply with the UK regulations. The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy's (BEIS's) Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment & Decommissioning unit (OPRED) and the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) work in this partnership as the regulatory authority to deliver these functions; OPRED for offshore environmental legislation, and HSE for health and safety legislation for offshore oil and gas operations. The Competent Authority is currently reviewing how it has performed over the past five years in delivering the Government commitments. We are seeking your support in the review of our partnership arrangement and want feedback from Industry and other stakeholders regarding how you have viewed our performance.
