At the time, outside China there were less than 100 cases of COVID-19, and no deaths. I wish to be very clear: a public health emergency of international concern is the highest level of alarm under international law.    Today is International Women’s Day. In many ways, women have suffered disproportionately from the pandemic. But women have also been at the forefront of the response. More.  Women in Science compendium Check out a new “Women in Science” compendium compiled by TDR, the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases, based at the World Health Organization, celebrates 15 women scientists working in Africa, Latin America and Asia, who share their inspiring stories and offer some words of wisdom on how to navigate a career in science. Gender Equal Health and Care Workforce Initiative Global health security and the contribution made by health and care workers, the majority of whom are women is of paramount importance to healthy economies. As such the Gender Equal Health and Care Workforce Initiative, a partnership between the World Health Organization, the Government of France and Women in Global Health, aims to strengthen investment in and protection of health and care workers.
